Heads up, one of Billings' most popular meat shops is moving across town.

Quality meats are a big deal for grillers, snackers, and meat smokers in Billings. With the 4th of July right around the corner, plenty of folks in Montana will be loading their barbeque grills with tasty proteins. Before you head to one of Billings' favorite meat shops, note that Ranch House Meat Company in Billings is moving to Lockwood on July 1.

The locally-owned company sells Montana-raised, grass-fed, grain-finished beef, sourced from ranches across the Treasure State. I've purchased their thick-cut, well-marbled steaks and other meats numerous times, and fans love their meat sticks, sausages, jerky, take-n-bake items, and more.

Traffic headaches on 32nd St West.

The company announced a while back that they were planning a move, and that time is rapidly approaching. A recent Facebook post announced that Ranch House Meat Company will vacate its location on 32nd St. West soon, and will re-open in Lockwood on July 1, 2024.

It's all about location... and how easy you can get there.

As someone who lives on what I call the ultra-far West End (Laurel), Ranch House Meat's move to Lockwood doesn't seem convenient to me at first glance. But here's the thing... it will probably take less time to drive to Lockwood than navigating to 32nd Street West and King Ave W from downtown where I work.

OPINION: 32nd Street West has got to be one of the busiest streets in town, lacking enough stoplights and turn lights to conveniently access numerous businesses (or trying to cross traffic) between King Ave West and Broadwater. I try to avoid 32nd Street West when possible.

Ranch House Meat Company will open at 2032 Old Hardin Road on July 1.

Ranch House Meats will move to the former S Bar S building supply store. This location offers a much bigger space for the company, is easier to get into/out of, and should provide plenty of room for any potential expansion plans.
