I hear the phrase "Christmas Bonus" quite a bit, but I don't know anyone who is actually getting one. To be clear, this isn't one of those "War On Christmas" complaints. I wouldn't care if it was called "Holiday Bonus", "End Of Year Bonus", etc. I'd gladly take the extra pat on the back. Personally, I've had two Christmas bonuses in my entire working career. They were tiny, but free money is always appreciated.

I did some research and it turns out that the people who still get a nice bonus this time of year are professionals who already make pretty decent incomes. Many surgeons for instance will pocket an extra $60,000 next month. Lots of suits and ties (investment bankers, attorneys, CEO's, etc.) will get bonuses in the $50,000 range as well. I have no problem with any of that, but I would like to salute any company that still pays bonuses to the working class folks. People whose annual income is less than the bonuses listed above probably get pretty excited about an extra $1,000 during the holiday season.

If your employer is still generous enough to give you a bonus this year, please leave a comment and let me know. I will gladly give them a free plug on-air.
